Want A Change? 2 Tips To Upgrade Your Exterior This Spring

Winter is coming to an end and spring is right around the corner.  If you have been thinking of how you can change your exterior over the winter, below are some tips to help you get started. Spring is the perfect time to make changes because the weather is not too hot but cool enough for you to enjoy being outdoors.

Paint

If your home has been the same color for years or your current paint is looking old, you should consider painting your home a different color. You will be surprised at the difference this can make. You likely do not want your home to stand out too much, so drive around your neighborhood and look at the color of homes. If the color of your home is now white, changing to a deeper shade of tan or brown would be a good choice. You could choose a color that is slightly lighter or brighter than the other homes to help it stand out a little bit.

You also have to consider the trim color, as you want it to be different than the color of your home. For example, if you choose a darker color for your home, use a lighter color for the trim. If your home has a light color, a darker trim works great.  Do not forget about your door also. You could go with a bright red door, a soft yellow, brown, etc.

Roof

If you have had your current roof for some time, it is likely in need of a repair or even a replacement. Winter can wreak havoc on a roof also. If you do not mind climbing up on your roof, do this but ask a friend to help you. Once you are up there, inspect the shingles for any problems, such as shingles that are completely missing, damaged, or loose. Look at the overall condition of your roof.

Contact a roofing contractor to help you if you notice damage or you think your roof is in bad condition. They can inspect it for you and give you their recommendation of repairing it or replacing it. Replacing the roof can also make a big difference in how your home looks, and there are many types of shingles you can choose from. Your roofing contractor can help you decide what type would work best for your home.

When you finish with these two things, think of other things you can do, such as updating your landscaping, replacing your windows, and more.
